Disc Chipper Machine – Product Introduction

The Disc Chipper Machine is a high-performance wood chipping equipment primarily used for cutting logs into uniform, high-quality wood chips. Widely applied in pulp and paper mills, particleboard factories, fibreboard plants, orchards, and gardens, this disc chipper delivers consistent chip quality essential for industrial processing. Available in multiple models with capacities from 1–2 t/h up to 15–20 t/h, it offers a complete wood chipping solution for operations of all scales.

Product Features

  1. Superior Wood Chip Quality – The disc chipper is mainly used for cutting logs, producing better quality wood chips with uniform size and shape. This makes it especially suitable for pulp and paper mill applications where chip consistency is critical to the pulping process.

  2. Flexible Blade Configurations – The disc chipper blade system includes two options:

    • Ordinary chipper: 4–6 knives for standard wood chipping applications

    • Multi-chip chipper: 6–8 knives for finer, more uniform chip production

  3. Multiple Feeding Methods – The chipper feeding method offers two options to accommodate different raw material types:

    • Oblique mouth feeding – Ideal for short logs and slab shavings

    • Flat mouth feeding (horizontal feeding) – Suitable for long shavings and dimensional timber

  4. Application-Specific Feeding Selection – Long shavings usually adopt flat mouth feeding for optimal processing, while short logs and slab shavings can adopt either tilted feeding or flat feeding, providing operational flexibility based on material characteristics.

Applications

This wood disc chipping machine is widely used in:
• Pulp and Paper Mills – Producing uniform wood chips for pulp manufacturing
• Particleboard Factories – Preparing raw materials for engineered wood products
• Fibreboard Plants – Supplying consistent chips for fibre production
• Orchards and Gardens – Processing branches, prunings, and green waste
• Timber Processing – Chipping log ends, slabs, and offcuts

FAQ

Q1: What’s the difference between oblique mouth feeding and flat horizontal feeding?
A: Oblique mouth feeding fits short logs, slab leftovers and small branch materials; flat horizontal feeding is designed for long timber, long veneer strips and long wood slabs. You can pick the feeding inlet according to your raw material length to get stable feeding and uniform wood chips.

Q2: How to choose the number of cutter knives (4–8 pcs)?
A: Standard 4–6 knives models are for general wood chipping with normal output. 6–8 multi-knife versions cut finer, more even wood chips, which are more suitable for paper pulp production that has strict requirements on chip uniformity.

Q3: What raw materials can this disc chipper process?
A: It can process whole logs, timber, log ends, wood slabs, veneer offcuts, orchard pruned branches, garden green waste, and most common hardwood & softwood raw materials.

Q4: How to select the correct disc chipper model based on capacity?
A: Small models (500/600, 1–3t/h) suit small gardens, small timber workshops; medium models (800/950, 4–8t/h) match medium particleboard/fibreboard factories; large models (1100–1410, 10–20t/h) are for large paper pulp mills and big wood processing production lines.

Q5: Is the wood chip size adjustable?
A: Yes. Chip thickness and uniformity can be adjusted by replacing cutter blades, adjusting blade clearance, and selecting different knife quantities, to meet the production standards of pulp, particleboard or biomass fuel.
