Biomass Pellet Fuel Production Line — 3.0–3.5 T/H
Biomass Pellet Fuel Production Line — 3.0–3.5 T/H
Location: New Zealand | Commissioned: 2025 | Product: Biomass Fuel Pellets Raw Materials: Wood chips & sawdust Design Capacity: 3.0–3.5 metric tons per hour
Total Installed Power: ~280–320 kW
Building Dimensions (L × W × H): 18 m × 20 m × 24 m
📋 Complete Production Process Flow
-
Raw Material Reception & Grinding Wood chips and sawdust are received and sorted. Oversized chips pass through a hammer mill and are ground to uniform particles of 3–5 mm — the ideal size for pelletizing.
-
Drying Material passes through a rotary drum dryer. Moisture is reduced to 10–15%, the optimal range for forming strong, durable pellets.
-
Conditioning Temperature and moisture are adjusted; steam may be added to soften natural lignin in the wood. No external binders are needed — the lignin itself acts as the natural binder.
-
Pelletizing Prepared material enters a heavy-duty ring-die pellet mill. Under high pressure and temperature (120–160°C), it is extruded into cylindrical pellets, typically 6–8 mm diameter × 20–30 mm length.
-
Cooling & Screening Hot pellets from the mill are cooled to near-ambient temperature in a high-capacity counter-flow cooler. They are then screened to remove fines and dust, which are recycled back into the process.
-
Storage & Packaging Finished pellets are stored in silos and packaged in 15–25 kg bags, 1-tonne bulk bags, or supplied in bulk according to market demand.
⚙️ Main Equipment Configuration

| Hammer Mill | Grinding chips to 3–5 mm particles | 90–110 kW |
| Rotary Drum Dryer | Drying to target moisture content | 45–55 kW |
| Conditioner | Temperature & moisture adjustment | 5–7 kW |
| Ring-Die Pellet Mill | Core pellet-forming machine | 100–120 kW |
| Counter-Flow Cooler | Temperature reduction & hardening | 11–15 kW |
| Vibrating Screener | Remove fines & classify pellets | 5–7 kW |
| Conveyors, Elevators & Dust Collection | Material transfer & dust control | 25–35 kW |
| Packaging Machine / Silos | Weighing, bagging & storage | 4–6 kW |
✅ Total connected power ≈ 290–350 kW, matching scaled capacity requirements. Layout and equipment selection are optimized for New Zealand woody biomass feedstock, forestry residues, and local environmental & workplace standards.
