2 Tons/Hour Cattle & Poultry Feed Production Line in Cameroon

1. Project Overview

Project Name: Cattle & Poultry Pellet Feed Production Line

Production Capacity: 2 Tons/Hour

Project Location: Cameroon

Target Products: Livestock Pellet Feed (Cattle, Sheep, Goat), Poultry Pellet Feed (Broiler, Layer)

Project Type: Complete Feed Processing Plant

2. Project Background

The livestock and poultry sectors in Cameroon are experiencing significant growth, driven by government initiatives to reduce import dependency and modernize agricultural production . In 2024, an $8.1 million state-of-the-art animal feed plant was inaugurated in Olembe, producing 100,000 tons annually to serve the Central, Southern, and Eastern regions . Additionally, a modern poultry feed milling plant was established in Bamendjou in 2025, further demonstrating the country's commitment to developing its animal feed industry .

Cameroon's cattle production reached 130,169 tons in 2023, while poultry production stood at 65,312 tons, reflecting robust domestic demand for quality animal feed . This 2-ton/hour feed production line is designed to capitalize on this growing market, providing a medium-scale solution for commercial farms, cooperatives, and regional feed distributors.

3. Production Line Configuration

The 2-ton/hour feed production line is configured to process both ruminant feed (cattle, sheep, goats) and poultry feed (broilers, layers) with flexible formulation and pellet size adjustments.

3.1 Key Equipment List

4. Production Process

4.1 Raw Material Receiving & Pre-cleaning

Raw materials including maize, soybean meal, wheat bran, and cottonseed cake are received and fed into the system via screw conveyor. A magnetic separator removes ferrous contaminants to protect downstream equipment .

4.2 Grinding

Materials are processed through a hammer mill. For cattle feed, the grind size is coarser (2mm or above) to maintain proper fiber structure for rumination, while poultry feed requires finer grinding for optimal digestion .

4.3 Mixing

Ground materials are precisely weighed and blended in a double-shaft paddle mixer with premixes, minerals, and other additives. The mixing process ensures uniform nutrient distribution in every pellet .

4.4 Pelleting

The mixed powder enters a ring die pellet mill where it is compressed into solid pellets. Steam conditioning may be applied to improve pellet durability and binding. Pellet sizes can be adjusted by changing the ring die configuration: 4-6mm for poultry, 6-10mm for cattle .

4.5 Cooling

Hot pellets exiting the pellet mill are cooled to near-ambient temperature in a counterflow cooler, which hardens the pellets and reduces moisture to safe storage levels .

4.6 Screening & Packaging

Cooled pellets pass through a vibrating screen to remove fines, which are recycled back to the pelleting stage. Finished pellets are then weighed and packaged in 25kg or 50kg bags .
